Coming Street Addition
Addition to Historic Residence; Pool HouseThe project is a renovation and modest addition to an 1840’s Charleston Single House. The program includes a new Kitchen/Family Room with rear porch on the first floor, and a Master Bedroom Suite and rear deck on the second floor. A Pool/Guest House is also included.
The existing 1980’s-era rear addition (shown in the photos) will be removed, and the historic house will be restored.
The client requested a contemporary addition with ample natural light–while also preserving privacy within the urban environment. Operable louvers on the west facade slide open or close, depending on the privacy needed.
Materials are standing seam copper roof/wall, IPE and steel louvers, stained IPE T&G siding, board-formed concrete podium, and a steel-framed rear porch.
