Commercial and Residential Infill in Downtown Charleston

The mixed-use building includes retail on the ground floor with two luxury apartments on each of the second and third floors.

An infill site in Charleston’s historic district and one block from the City Market, the project is directly adjacent to our office’s design of the Loutrel Hotel to the east and an existing restaurant building at the west. To the south, it fronts a new courtyard in between two historic buildings on Cumberland Street. Those buildings will be renovated into commerical uses. Combined, the courtyard and ground floor retail areas of the three buildings will create a vibrant gathering area for the neighborhood.

The design is employs simple materials, clean proportions and large openings to create a distinct but subtle presence within a very tight context along Linguard Street.
