RESIDENCE IN DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON, SC

The project is a renovation and modest addition to an 1840's Charleston Single House in the historic district of Charleston, SC. The program includes a new Kitchen/Family Room with rear porch on the first floor, and a Master Bedroom Suite and rear deck on the second floor. A Pool/Guest House is also included.

The existing 1980's-era rear addition (shown in the photos) will be removed, and the historic house will be restored.

Materials are standing seam copper roof/wall, IPE and steel louvers, stained IPE T&G siding, board-formed concrete podium, and a steel-framed rear porch.

The project received unanimous BAR approval.

The project received a 2018 AIA SC Merit Award in the Unbuilt category.
